No more masks!

Who am I?
Good question.
Sometimes we question why we're even here or why we lead the life we do. Sometimes we think we aren't doing anything that even matters. Or sometimes we don't even realize it; but we don't show who we are. Have any of your friends seen you at your worst? Or even heard about it? Probably not. Have you even seen yourself at your worst? I mean are you being real with yourself and  accepting the fact that at some point you weren't perfect?
You probably are wearing a mask half, or more, of the time. Maybe when you're around some friends you act weird and be yourself or maybe ou try to fit in with them. Maybe at church you act extra biblical, quoting scripture and carrying a bible around. Maybe at work you act responsible. Around your friend's parents you act mature. These are all examples of you not being real. We need to take our mask off. Show people who we really are. I recently got an iPhone (to use as an MP3 player but that's really not important. ) and I got it for free because it has cracks on it. Anyways it came with a protective case. A shield. With that on you can't hear the music as well or take good pictures or anything. It's all a lesser quality. When you take that case off it reveals the cracks and imperfections showing what the iPhone is and making it vulnerable to breakage and things like that. But it functions so much better! We need to be like that. We need to take off our protective layer and be vulnerable. Tell people about our mistakes and faults. Our 'cracks' and that can take so much guilt and worry off of us. It relieves our burdens.
Who am I?
Well that's all your decision. You are who you make yourself to be.
Find someone you can be completely vulnerable and real with. Tell them who you are. Because they will love you even with your cracks.
You guys are all awesome inside and out!

To Expect or not to Expect, That is the Question.

So true.
I went on a retreat with my youth group this past weekend and it was amazing. But we talked a bit about expectations and I thought it was very very interesting. Why do we always have expectations for things? You expect more things than you realize. You expect to live to tomorrow. You expect your parents to feed you. You expect the internet to work. You expect Christmas to come on December 25th. You expect the sun to come up in the morning. You expect water to come out of the tap. You expe--- nevermind, you get the idea. Okay..... Now: Are those expectations always met? Probably, those are pretty common ones. But what about a movie you recently watched? Maybe it wasn't what you expected at all. Maybe it was better. Maybe it was worse, but it probably didn't match your expectations exactly. So, should you have set your expectations lower? Maybe that would solve the problem. But what if we had no expectations? That was the question our youth pastor asked us (well maybe not those exact words but you get the picture) We all answered with 'You need expectations. If you jump off a building you need to expect something really bad to happen.' (again, not those exact words but we used examples like that) But those weren't exactly correct examples that's more of a healthy fear kinda thing. But expectations mean you need it to be what you expect. You NEED to get your schoolwork done. But what if you WANT to get it done instead. Wanting instead of needing relieves the stress that you're putting on yourself. You only need a few things in life. Food, water, shelter, an education, etc. But then you have things you want. Even on those levels. Maybe you want a gourmet meal every day. Maybe you want a mansion. Maybe you want to make it to Yale or Harvord or some top-notch college. You expect it. You don't need it. And if you let go of the thought that you deserve or need (expect) these things in life, and realize that if you don't have these things then you WILL be okay you can live a bit more stress-free. Now if you were at the retreat correct me if that's not what our youth pastor meant but that's what it translated as for me. I hope you enjoyed this blog post!

Bloggers Award Nomination

So, my awesome friend Liddy, or Elisabeth, (I like nicknames!) nominated me for the Best Blogging Buddy Award. How it work is:
-You make a post to show off your awesomeness. As well as your award.
-Tag your blogging buddy who nominated you.
-Nominate all of your best buddies, as well as non-best buddies who you want to become best buddies with. Make sense?
-Ask those buddies mentioned earlier at least 15 questions on your post.
-Answer all of the questions your buddies ask you. On your post. This post. Only yours. Get it, got it, good?
Thanks Liddy! I'm very honored by the honor which you have honored me with. ;)
  Here goes:
1) Favorite little kid’s book?
I'm not entirely sure. I remember one that was called 'I love my daddy' that I really liked. I read it cover to cover probably every night. I also loved some sort of goodnight book. I forgot what it was called though.
 2) Favorite mid-elementary book?
I've always adored books. I really enjoyed the Nancy Drew series though. As well as 'Life of Faith' books. I also liked the Mandie series.
3) Night owl or morning person?
Probably a night owl. But I still can't stay up past probably 10-ish without going completely bonkers! Although I cant get up before around 7:30.
4) Do you like being that way (referencing the above question)?
Not really. I used to be a morning person and that worked better.
5) Plays or musicals?
It depends on the play or musical.
6) Favorite secular Christmas song and favorite Christian Christmas song?
You're seriously making me choose!? I love almost all of them! But I really like this one,>>>>>> I know, they look really weird! But they're really funny. I would recommend a lot of their songs if you need a laugh'
it's cheesy and funny while being Christmasy.
7) If you could choose what your dying words will be, what would you pick?
Well, it really depends on who I'm with and the situation. I really hope I can come up with some really amazing speech.
8) Which do you think is more important: justice or mercy?
They're both important, you need a good balance of both.
9) Why to the above?
Justice is not for us to serve out. Yes, you need to punish a criminal for his crimes but you don't need to punish your brother for touching your stuff.
10) Book and/or movie that’s going to come out that you’re excited for?
Avengers 2!!! (What's with the whole strings thing? And Cap's broken sheild! AHHHHHHH!!!) I am a Marvel fanatic, so any of those movies! I'm also excited for Divergent 2 (I forgot it's actual name, sorry.)
11) If you could pick a fantasy weapon someone’s already invented (i.e., lightsabers, the Ring, Shardblades, etc.), what would it be?
Probably a sonic screwdriver. It's not great for defense but I'd love to scare my brothers by changing the channel on the TV or something. Mwahahahaha!
12) Frodo or Sam?  (If you don’t know whom I’m talking about, first, shame on you, and second, just list a favorite book character of yours.)
What kind of question is this!? It should be obvious! SAM! I gave my mom a whole speech on why Samwise and Rory(From DW) are so under appreciated. They're so loyal and caring and just AWESOME!
13) What do you like to snack on, or do you not snack at all?
I don't really snack much but I love chips, and fruit, and Nutella! And PIZZA although that's not exactly a snack.
14) Three words that people often use to describe you?

I asked my mom and Barrett and they came up with this.> Happy thrifty creative funny and bossy. I've also been described as spunky and weird.
15) What did you want to be when you were little?
I've always wanted to be a writer, and a baker.
16) What question would you liked to be asked, and what is your answer?
Favorite movie, I guess. (<It took a while to come up with that question.) I love so many movies it's really hard to pick one. But right now it's probably Amazing Spiderman 2, This movie is so awesome! It's got action but it's not just pure action there are some other kinds of scenes too. I really don't know how to explain it. If you haven't seen it just watch it! I also love ELF (for the holidays) It's so extremely funny! Go watch it! Right now!>>>>>>>
I also love despicable me 2 and the Lego movie. Plus so many others (LOTR, Divergent, Mom's Night Out, etc.)
17) If you could go to lunch to meet a person from history, who would it be?
Jesus!

My nominees are: Emma D. and Ruth-Anna.

I'm giving you these same questions but I'm adding a few:
 Favorite music?
Dream vacation?
Favorite thing to do?

Holidays.

So Samuel (my 2 yr. old bro) has a little book that has some sort of recording device built in so that you don't have to actually read it to him. He just sits there flipping the pages and pressing the buttons and you don't have to read it! I love that book.
                         ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry that I rarely post. I'm hoping it gets better. Sometimes I just can't think of anything to say.
                                                             ------------------------
Christmas. I love Christmas. It's awesome! I love Christmas music too. I listen to it all year long. I love watching Christmas movies. I was even thinking of being a Christmas 'elf'' (from LOTR) through the month of december. I don't know how that would turn out though...... I may reconsider that idea. I know some people are mad that there's already Christmas music on the radio but I'm happy about that. Although when they just completely skip over Thanksgiving it's kinda sad. Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday: Eating too much of Grandma's pumpkin pie (or Whipped cream in my case. That stuff's awesome!) And your Aunt's green bean casserole. Or seeing all the pilgrim-turkey man decorations. It's a beautiful thing....JK  We need to thank God. We have a holiday for it! Don't skip that. Thank the Lord!
